Rose Rise

  • Streaming + Download

Includes unlimited streaming via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more.

This album features songs created originally by myself and in collaboration with other artists, who are identified in individual tracks. I used analogue instruments, hardware and software synthesisers. The only samples are that of a 909 kick drum and some percussions. The voices are of myself and Loren Worn (Zero Gravity). Additional live parts are added by Colin Bennun (synthesisers and piano) and Stewart Colley (guitar).

I would like to thank Sam Wills at Wired Masters for mixing and mastering the final version of the album. One comment, “This is good enough as a pre-master - I can work with it”, had given me a boost of confidence that no amount of RTM could ever do.

Thank you to Colin Bennun (OOOD) for mixing some of the compositions, co-writing ‘Rock Stone Street Road’ and for playing a beautiful piano part in ‘Mess’. Thank you for advice and support in business and making decisions - the most difficult part as it turned out.

Thank you to Loren Worn for inspiring me to sing and for doing the backing vocals in Zero Gravity. In fact, I think the backing vocal is better than the front.

Thank you to Stewart Colley for playing a fantastic guitar part in Rock Stone Street Road and for teaching me how to play guitar properly.

Thank you to Grete Hjorth-Johansen for the beautiful photo, which is the album cover and all the inspiring pictures of trees. Thank you for support and advice.

Thank you to Gina Dearden for making additional art for compositions in the album and thank you for letting me be in the garden where those roses are rising.

Zero Gravity 07:26
I often find my world is crashing When I give in I let the feelings flood my heart I let you in I let the feelings flood my heart I let you in I could let you be In a timeless zone Of zero gravity In a timeless zone Of zero gravity With me Life Is a strange equation Where parts are never adding up And even if you're smart enough To find the formula of love It doesn't work In every situation Still I Would let you be In a timeless zone Of zero gravity With me I Would let you be In a timeless zone Of zero gravity With me In a timeless zone Of zero gravity With me Zero gravity In a timeless zone Lyrics added by Loren Worn: In my world I am alive I am alive, alive, I am in...

Mess 05:27
Verse 1: This could be the best thing ever happened You and I would be in it together Listen to your heart Never said the things that really mattered Now too late - it’s easy to forget it Better with a smile Chorus: I am lying to myself Attaching smiling face To the lines of texted nonsense Oh what a disgrace Accept apologies For making such a mess Rap: Take a break to get things straight Breathe a bit to clear the way Hiding feelings is a trap Who will suffer when it snaps? Look at how the time is running While you hum and ho around it Tell the truth what you’re about? Lie to me - and I am out Now it’s time get creative There is no better way to end it Get ahead with something new Stop regrets from stopping you! Verse 2: Look ahead, the sun is almost rising Life goes on - just peak above horizon Fly… I set you free Love intrudes, you know you cannot stop it Just as well, you know you cannot force it Take a break and let it be Chorus: You’re lying to yourself Attaching smiley face To the lines of texted nonsense Oh what a disgrace Accept apologies For making such a mess Adlibs: Such a mess… aaahhh, such a mess Rap: (repeat of the first one) Take a break to get things straight Breathe a bit to clear the way Hiding feelings is a trap Who will suffer when it snaps? Look at how the time is running While you hum and ho around it Tell the truth what you’re about? Lie to me - and I am out Now it’s time get creative There is no better way to end it Get ahead with something new Stop regrets from stopping you!
